Biggest Loser

Kahiki is home to the BIGGEST LOSER!

In an effort to promote healthfulness among the team, Kahiki Foods started a friendly weight loss competition aptly titled “The Biggest Loser.” This past April, the competition came to an end with a total of 355 pounds lost among the 36 participants. While many vied to be the Biggest Loser, Jeisy Pena came out on top, losing more than 10% of her body weight! We want to congratulate all the participants on their hard work. Even though there could be only one Biggest Loser, everyone won by getting healthier.

Pallet Ranching at the Forklift Rodeo

Just last week, Kahiki Foods put together its company-wide annual safety training. Instead of trotting out the same old workbooks and PowerPoint presentations, the team makes this annual training fun with the Forklift Rodeo! After an opening presentation from President Darcy Zbinovec, the team split off into several groups to perform various activities like getting a t-shirt out of a block of ice to promote teamwork or making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with one arm to teach about the importance of safety. The day culminates in a test of skill and dexterity with the Forklift Rodeo, a timed obstacle course where drivers must navigate around pallets without dropping a plastic. It was fun day that people here are still talking about. We’re already looking forward to next year!

SafeStart Comes to a Close

Kahiki Foods has just finished its journey through the SafeStart program. After many months of learning about states, errors, minds not being on task and complacency, it turns out one of the biggest safety concerns among the team is eyes not on task. People are too easily distracted by their cell phones on the sidewalk and on the road. However, sharing SafeStart stories and hearing just how dangerous texting and walking or texting and driving can be has put the eyes of many here at Kahiki Foods back on task. The team may have finished the final chapter of the SafeStart, but the story of staying safe is just getting started.
